This tour is excellent and should ideally be done earlier in a stay at Hanoi. Brian was excellent, providing a mix of food and history and info on current life in Hanoi. Being a vegetarian was no problem at all, I was very well catered for.
What a great tour! and on motorbike! I should have made this the first thing I did in Hanoi – I got so many great tips about the city, and saw so many great places! Brian really knows and loves his city.
Food, history, little bit of beer, and great sights. Best you can get!
Brian’s motorbike tour is ideal for everyone who enjoys good food, a trip off the beaten track and who is up for some real Vietnamese-style traffic. Brian and his employees take you safely through Hanoi’s incredibly crazy traffic, stopping at interesting landmarks, where Brian lets you in on all the stories and details, you wouldn’t get to know otherwise. All the way around beautiful West Lake you get to try typical Vietnamese food and drinks at different stops, which will make you a fan of the Vietnamese cuisine right away! It definitely made my taste-buds want more!
And those who love taking fotos will not be disappointed either. Brian knows all the good spots for taking stunning fotos and the tour is timed to give you a great view of the sunset. So pack your camera and appetite and prepare for a fun afternoon at the shores of West Lake!
This morning I did A taste of Hanoi food walking tour, it is a great way to get introduced to Vietnamese and especially Hanoi foods. Throughout the morning you are feed wonderful and amazing food in and around the old quarter. You also get a brief history of the city and Vietnam and events that happened on the spot where you are stood. Brian is very knowledgeable and knows he foods well. He also has a food coordinator who scoots around town to find that one off foods that are a little out of the way on the walking tour.
I had a great time and great food and got to see parts of the city that i would not have been able to find on my own. I highly recommend getting out there and doing this tour.
Despite our being late- fate was conspiring against us- Brian (who runs the show) phoned Us and waited until we got there. It put the group out but we were very appreciative and not at all disappointed in what we got to experience. It seems that nearly all the best things to eat in Hanoi involve pork in some way but Brian accommodated my inability to eat it and organised ahead of time this request. The tour was interesting and informative and we learnt a lot about not only food but the history of the old quarter. Thanks Brian for a wonderful introduction to the food of Hanoi. Thanks too to his food coordinator Nat(westernised spelling, sorry!) who was wonderful, friendly and efficient. There was no waiting at any restaurant, we seamlessly moved from place to place. Put this on your list of must dos in Hanoi!
Having heard that Vietnam is one of the most amazing places for food, particularly street food, I was excited to go there. The problem is it was so hard to figure out what anything is or how it should be ordered or eaten. That’s when I found A Taste of Hanoi, a street food walking tour. It covered everything from a market visit to see where the fresh produce comes from, to sampling many of the delicious local Hanoi and Vietnamese dishes and as a bonus, a lot of history and information about the area.
Brian has great knowledge of both the city and food and was so enthusiastic about telling us. For the amount of time, food and knowledge you get on this tour, it is excellent value and will make the rest of your stay in Vietnam so much easier, as you’ll know exactly what to order when out and about. Don’t eat before heading out on this as you will definitely be sated! I recommend this for anyone interested in eating – so that’s everyone!
Brian, our Foodie tour guide from “A TASTE OF HANOI, was the perfect one to show us things we’d never have seen or experienced otherwise! This was a very interesting combination of both food and culture. We truly enjoyed the walk along the railway line and getting a peek into life along it. You can always find “tours”, the difference is when you find a Tour that really shows you much more than just the “Tourist” thing! Not only did Brian take us to great places to eat, he also pointed out good vendors for us to visit at a later point if we so desired. I definitely recommend the tour as a starting point for a stay in Hanoi or as the Grand Finale, great way to get to know the old quarter and different foods on offer.
My partner and I did this tour on recommendation from our hotel. It was amazing . Brian is a chef from New York with a special interest in Asian food and Hanoi culture. His knowledge was unbelievable and he showed us so much of the city, told us about the culture and history and the food was fantastic! We wouldn’t have been so adventurous with food if we hadn’t done this tour . His little helper Nat was delightful! If you only have time for one tour… This is the one! Brian was a great tour guide , quirky and a great sense of humor ! Brian and Nat , I would like to thank you for the great tour and I wish you all the best for the future ! Keep up the good work…. Anything I can change about the tour… nothing !! Xx ps do not eat Brekky… we had 37 tastes lol
